Citrix and Arista Networks Team Up to Deliver Cloud Scale Networking

Virtualization and Networking Luminaries from Arista Networks and Citrix Systems Headline Industry Event on Cloud Computing

Santa Clara, CA and Menlo Park, CA — June 16, 2009 To address the explosive scale of networking requirements within Cloud Services, Citrix Systems (NASDAQ:CTXS) and Arista Networks – founded by industry veterans Andy Bechtolsheim and David Cheriton – today announced that they are working together to deliver cloud networking solutions for large datacenter and cloud service provider environments. As part of this partnership, the two companies will test and integrate the Citrix NetScaler® VPX™ virtual appliance with the Arista 7000 series switch. This achievement marks a key milestone in a partnership to deliver a cloud networking solution marrying wire-rate, high density 10G switching with proven L4-7 application delivery services.

In addition, Arista Networks has joined the Citrix Ready™ partner program, which helps customers identify third-party solutions that add the greatest value to the Citrix Delivery Center™ and Citrix Cloud Center (C3) ™ product families. Demonstrating the strength of the Citrix and Arista partnership, the two companies are co-sponsoring an upcoming seminar, titled “Cloud Computing: Your Apps are Ready, How About your Network?” Headlining this high-profile event are industry veterans from Citrix and Arista, including Klaus Oestermann, general manager and group vice president of the NetScaler Product Group at Citrix and Jayshree Ullal, president and CEO of Arista. In addition, leading experts from Dell, NetApp, Yahoo and others will share their insights on cloud computing during an interactive panel discussion. The seminar will be held on June 30 at 2:00 p.m. (PST) at the W Hotel in San Francisco. To register for the event, please visit http://www.citrix.com/English/NE/events/event.asp?eventID=1854172.

“Our upcoming June 30 seminar with Arista Networks will outline how to successfully build private and standardized clouds for secure, high-performance application delivery,” said Klaus Oestermann, vice president and general manager of the NetScaler Product Group at Citrix Systems. “We are excited to be working with Arista Networks to define important, emerging standards for cloud networking solutions. NetScaler VPX is a revolutionary technology enabling critical application delivery services to be deployed throughout datacenter and cloud networks.”

The NetScaler VPX virtual appliance provides the same application acceleration, availability and security capabilities as the industry-leading Citrix NetScaler MPX™ hardware appliances that power most of the largest websites in the world. Because the NetScaler VPX is available in a flexible, portable software-based form factor, however, it can be run as a virtual machine on standard servers as part of distributed cloud computing fabric or even incorporated into other high-performance networking solutions. The Arista platform delivers best-of-breed 10 gigabit Ethernet switching and supports the integration of software modules via its service agent, which runs within Arista’s extensible operating system (EOS). As a result of this combined approach, cloud customers will benefit from faster application performance and tighter security as well as a reduction in overall network latency.
