CloudEOS uses the Azure Instance Metadata Service (IMDS) to validate the authenticity of the instance in order to generate licensing for specific features including IPsec. The IMDS service uses a certificate chain provided in the Microsoft PKI repository. Every other year Microsoft issues new certificates that must be added to the CloudEOS certificate trust database. If these certificates are not updated in CloudEOS then the instance will not be able to successfully validate the instance which causes the license to expire. As a result, all IPsec tunnels will become disabled and bandwidth will be throttled to 80 Mbps until licensing is restored.
