IP Locking is an EOS feature configured on an Ethernet Layer 2 port or on a VLAN. When enabled, it ensures that a configured port or all member ports of a configured VLAN will only permit IP and ARP packets with IP source addresses that have been authorized. IP Locking prevents another host on a different IP Locking enabled interface from claiming ownership of an IP address through either IP or ARP spoofing. Additionally, IP Locking prevents hosts from masquerading as a DHCP server by blocking DHCP (server-to-client) packets.

IS-IS flexible algorithm (FlexAlgo) provides a lightweight, simplified mechanism for performing basic traffic engineering functions within a single IS-IS area. FlexAlgo requires the cooperation of all nodes within the IS-IS area but does not require an external controller. Paths are computed by each node within the area, resulting in an MPLS switched forwarding path to nodes that are advertising a node Segment Identifier (SID) for the algorithm. The results of the path computation are placed in the colored tunnel RIB or system tunnel RIB, which simplifies route resolution.

This feature will allow the user to select whether port mirror destinations of type GRE tunnel include the optional “key” field in the GRE header on certain platforms. The key field allows the user to uniquely identify a particular packet flow. The feature also allows the user to specify the value of the 32 bit key field.

The TCP MSS clamping feature involves clamping the maximum segment size (MSS) in the TCP header of TCP SYN packets if it exceeds the configured MSS ceiling limit for the interface. Clamping MSS value helps in avoiding IP fragmentation in tunnel scenarios by ensuring that MSS is small enough to accommodate the extra overhead of GRE and tunnel outer IP headers. One of the most common use cases for this feature is connectivity towards Cloud providers via GRE which require asymmetric routing (for example DDoS protection).

Network administrators require access to flow information that passes through various network elements, for the purpose of analyzing and monitoring their networks. This feature provides access to IP flow information by sampling traffic flows in ingress and/or egress directions on the interfaces on which it is configured. The samples are then used to create flow records, which are exported to the configured collectors in the IPFIX format. Egress Flow tracking is supported from EOS-4.29.0F on the DCS-7170B-64C series and supported on 7280, 7500 and 7800 series platforms from EOS-4.31.1"

This is an infrastructure that provides management of SSL certificates, keys and profiles. SSL/TLS is an application-layer protocol that provides secure transport between client and server through a combination of authentication, encryption and data integrity. SSL/TLS uses certificates and private-public key pairs to provide this security. A user can manage certificates, keys and also multiple SSL profiles. An SSL profile is a configuration which includes certificate, key and trusted CA certificates used in SSL/TLS communication. An SSL profile configuration can be attached to another EOS configuration which supports SSL/TLS communication. Individual EOS features that use this infrastructure will document the details of using an SSL profile in their configuration.

This feature allows Octa to act as a collector for IPFIX and sFlow datagrams and to aggregate and stream the collected data in response to a gNMI subscription. Octa is a process in EOS which combines OpenConfig and certain TerminAttr functionality, primarily with the intent of servicing gNMI requests for OpenConfig paths and for "EOS native" paths.

Traffic steering to nexthop groups allows specifying one or more nexthop groups as the destination, either by default for a TAP port or for a TAP aggregation steering policy. Traffic steering is a TAP aggregation process that uses class maps and policy maps to direct data streams received on TAP ports. A nexthop group is a data structure that defines a list of nexthop addresses and a tunnel type for packets routed to the specified address.
